this limited ramadan bundle brings together the spices most often used in preparing the long-anticipated meals that anchor our iftar tables; the rice pots, the simmered meats, and the dishes that begin cooking way before maghrib (sunset) comes in. they bring in the smells that fill the house with excitement and build gradually throughout the afternoon.

whole spices are central here. used at the beginning of cooking, they’re bloomed in samneh (or quality EVOO), or left to perfume the pot, releasing their flavor slowly and more subtly than ground spices. paired with shami spice as the foundation, and a small jar of jordanian samneh for richness and grounding, this set reflects the kind of cooking that rewards patience, which is a core virtue we strive to live during this blessed month.

together, these ingredients can support a beautifully layered maqlouba that's flipped at serving, a spiced rice with chicken or lamb, any kind of mahshi (stuffed vegetables), and other one-pot meals that taste even better the next day. it's steady, balanced, and rooted in how jordanian homes prepare food that brings a sofra together. this set is offered at more than 50% off as a way to make the longer time commitments to prepare these meals easier throughout the month.

the bundle includes:

one one 2.5oz jar of shami spice: a warm, cohesive blend used as a base for rice, meats, and vegetable dishes. it brings structure and balance to longer-cooked meals without dominating them.

one 2.5oz jar of whole allspice: used whole or lightly cracked in broths and rice pots, allspice adds subtle sweetness and depth. keeping it whole allows the flavor to infuse gently over time rather than overpower.

one 2.5oz jar of whole coriander: soft and aromatic, whole coriander seeds release their warmth gradually, supporting long simmers.

one 2.5oz jar of whole cumin: often bloomed in oil at the start of cooking, whole cumin seeds provide a deep, savory backbone to rice, lentils, and slow-simmered dishes.

one 6oz jar of samneh: clarified butter used at the beginning of cooking to bloom spices and enrich rice and meats. it embeds flavor deeply into the dish and can give long-cooked meals their signature finish.

some dishes are ready when the sun sets. others have been waiting at the stove all day.

frequently asked questions

where are your spices from?
we source all of our spices from jordan and india. we’re committed to using spices that are grown in their native lands to best preserve their true flavors that are dependent on the soil and climates they’re grown in.
how are your spices processed?
we get our spices raw and whole. we then roast, grind, and mix them in-house, so you don’t get a spice mix that has been sitting in a warehouse and then on a shelf for months before it gets to your kitchen.
how do i store spices?
our spice jars are pretty airtight and meant for retaining freshness. we would recommend keeping the jars in your pantry and away from direct sunlight to preserve shelf life.
how long are spices good for?
when spices “expire”, thankfully, there isn’t a health risk if they’re consumed. spices expiring means they have lost their flavor and potency. it’s said that spice blends can retain most of their flavor for up to 2 years, but for maximum freshness and potency, we recommend consuming our ground spices within six months.
